NRBnG [No Rules BnG] is an old concept that has been popular for extended periods on both W2 and WA. It's nothing new, but because competitive BnG today is a total mess [players simply don't know what is and what isn't allowed], I feel it's time to try and introduce this solution to the community again.

THE SCHEME is a simplified version of the BnG scheme most people use these days. While I personally think it should be this way for all other variations of BnG as well, I guess this isn't the place to moan about it. Just make sure you download this scheme before registering, because the one you most likely have won't work well with no rules. Some highlights:

• Infinite Low Gravity
• Infinite Firepunch
• Infinite Teleport
• No F7 utilities save for Blowtorch because you don't need them with infinite Teleport
• Anchored worms [Although NRBnG works very well unanchored, too.]

THE MAPS are NOT limited to the map pack provided above; it is only there to set an example of what is desired in a BnG map. First and foremost, they have to be randomly generated before the game and wide enough to be comfortable, even if you don't create them by editing double cave maps [associated with T17]. They have to have at least two good hides on each half of the map, which is achieved with the Reseed button in Preview mode of the in-game editor. The terrain texture you use doesn't matter, but a smooth surface [Jagged grass sucks!] and lots of objects is preferable. Also, please don't just always use Fruit or -Forest, it's boring and makes you look suspicious. Variation is fun!

THE RULES simply aren't there; anything within the boundaries of what the game allows is fine. What you can do to keep games from deteriorating into newbie fests, you wonder? Here's a few tips:

• Hide in places that don't allow your opponent to easily sitter or straight zook you.
• If you're getting hit with the same shot over and over again, for God's sake, teleport away or ruin your opponent's angle by hitting him.
• If your opponent is hiding in a very tight hide with only one or two possible shots, either move to a hide where he can't hit you anymore without opening his hide up or dig through to him yourself as soon as possible rather than waste shots trying to hit directly.
• If your opponent is hiding underground, don't bitch about it. Instead, use the time you are given to figure out what shot you'll need to hit and then dig through when you're ready. If the map is good, it shouldn't take too long.
• Did the opponent teleport on your worm's head? LG Firepunch does wonders. If you're worried about dying next turn, however, just find yourself an even better hide on the opposite side of the map.
• Do you fear the death teleports aka telecides? Hide so they can't damage you enough to kill you or even drown you.

DISCLAIMER: In case of a draw, there is no need to come back to #PartyTime and ask the mod for instructions. Just quickly replay the game with either 100, 75 or just 50 health each, depending on how long the first round lasted. If it was over 20 minutes, strongly consider 50 HP.

If you'd like to learn more about the similarities and differences between regular BnG and NRBnG, to see why experienced players think it would or wouldn't work well in serious games, I recommend reading this forum discussion about an attempt to formally include the scheme into the FB league:
